Well, this is clearly not my studying for tomorrow morning's final.
When I study, I have to have music. If I don't use music to shut out everything around me, I just can't concentrate. Bizarrely enough, I'm more distracted by silence that caterwauling. Only problem is that I've reached the point with my current music collection where I just can't listen to it anymore.
As such, I'm asking for music recommendations. The last few things added to my music library have been random Cuban/Celtic/Latin music, a best of Johnny Cash, some hip hop, Dixie Chicks, Muse, Brand New, Disney, k-os, random indie and post-punk, random folk, and random classical.
Basically, what I'm telling you is that I'm easy, and open to suggestion.

Re: MUSIC!
Date: 2006-12-11 07:44 pm (UTC)I kind of actually love it all. I've been meaning to check out TPC and Wolf Parade because they keep coming up on those 'people who like what you like are also interested in _____' things. The Buck 65 is a little weird because I'm in love with k-os' Atlantis - Hymns for Disco, and one of my favourite tracks on the album features Buck 65. Of course, that might have been what made you think on it. Is the rest of Secret House Against the World as good?
So, in conclusion: I love it all, and I love you. If you were to want to pass whole albums and/or other songs along, I might love you even more.
We can trade, yo. Do you have A-HfD? Or is there anything random, genre-wise, you might be interested in?
Re: MUSIC!
Date: 2006-12-11 08:51 pm (UTC)The rest of Secret House... is totally awesome, I have zipped it and will send it too. And yay for Wolf Parade because it is my favouritest album of a long, long time.
I don't have k-os's album, actually, would love that if you have the time! But no worries if you're busy studying cos honestly, I just love sharing music about.
Also, if you were looking for some Christmas music, check out 8 Bits of Christmas - yeah, holiday songs done in 8bit video game music. It's hilariously awesome and you can download the tracks there on the website. :)

Date: 2006-12-12 12:01 am (UTC)I've screened a post here with two links in it, to random .zips files. They were done for a friend who was in an accident, but I don't want the downloads to go to waste -- I'm just trying to monitor how many have gone. They're a bit more mainstream than most of my music, and really quite incredibly random.

Date: 2006-12-11 11:49 pm (UTC)The... seven most recent posts ought to be the ones with working links. If you don't/can't find something you can live with in there somewhere, I shall make a crying (or about to cry) Al icon just so I can use it at you.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas (audio storybook plus songs)
Cat Stevens
Dave Carter and Tracey Grammer
Bob Dylan
Woodie Guthrie (winter brings out the folky in me)
Rilo Kiley
The New Pornographers
Get Set Go
Gillian Welch
Feist
(Plus many many repeated listenings to The Transiberian Orchestra's Christmas album. But that is not my fault.)
I've got songs by most of these people backed up to a seekrit webserver. I'll email you a link to it - you can download at your leisure.

Date: 2006-12-13 03:11 am (UTC)Thank you! I am perusing the seekrit webserver leisurely, yes. I come across things and I'm like 'OMG, yay! She also likes ___ and I'm going to email her with squee and... wait, I think it might be something I gave her that she hasn't gotten around to getting rid of, hrm.'
(Also? I possibly accidentally torrented the collected works of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, so.)

Date: 2006-12-12 12:48 pm (UTC)I don't know if I've ever sent you a Fourplay or Magic Dirt album? If not, I'll upload them. The first are a string quartet and do great covers of songs. The Doctor Who theme is great. You've probably already heard me rave about Augie March and Davie Bridie. I think I've sent those over already, anyway.
These two are study related. For me, at least. THIS -atra, tatra - was stuck in my head for weeks when I was studying sanskrit. It's annoying as all hell, I really dislike it and can still translate it and I probably shouldn't share it because it Doesn't. Ever. Go. Away. Much like the filked version of Breakfast at Tiffany's, Breakfast with Cicero that a former housemate came up with never fails to get stuck in my head for weeks at a time.
Speaking of Cicero, here's something in latin. :) Gaudete, sung by Medieval Babes. Great version of the song.
Weather With You by Crowded House. 80's pop rock at its finest. They're a New Zealand band but it's still one of those great pub songs, like anything by Cold Chisel or Hunters and Collectors. Every Australian in the pub will start singing if that's on. Although, give me enough beer and I'll sing 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oy, oy, oy!' with the best of them, too, so maybe that's not a good recomendation?
Speaking of Hunters and Collectors, here's their second ever big hit in the 80's - Holy Grail.
Lastly, Twitch's 'Two Weeks'. Australian Indie pub rock band.

Date: 2006-12-13 02:18 am (UTC)I love that 'pub rock indie' is an Australian genre. I also love the song, though.
It's all lovely, hon. Thank you.

Date: 2006-12-13 02:37 am (UTC)It's like normal pub rock but they're not playing rock hits and memories. ;) Very good genre at least half the time.

Date: 2006-12-12 11:48 pm (UTC)Magic Dirt's 'What Are Rockstars Doing Today? album.
And Fourplay's album Catgut Ya' Tongue?

Date: 2006-12-13 02:07 am (UTC)Thank you, hon.
Psst. Anything specific you'd like in return?

Date: 2006-12-13 02:33 am (UTC)Could I have something sort of a bit rocky, with good singing? But not anything that's country. Real specific, I know. ;)
