I am finally caught up on my email! However, I have become aware that it is acting a tad glitchy. As such:

If you have sent me an email within the last month (or two, or three) that I have not responded to, I did not receive it. Please feel free to poke me with a stick.

In other news, there was that meme going around about how we don't know each other, and we should ask each other questions. I didn't participate, as one of my favourite past-times is disappearing for long periods of time for no externally penetrable reason.

For the record, it's always pretty much open season for questions for me. Life, vidding, writing, favourite tea, school, work, the last thing I took pictures of. After all -- when people interact with me, it makes me feel like I have friends!

I sent you an email! But I figured you just did not feel the need to reply again. Should I resend?

I got the first email, which I replied to! If there was a second, I did not get it.

(Edited because sometimes I run on at the mouth.)

I will attempt to excavate and resend the second! Although this may involve rereading the second, in which case I may never send it. (I'm always astonished by how stupid I sound in anything I wrote within the last six months. It's a movable feast: at any given point, anything from the last six months sounds stunningly stupid, anything from the two years before that sounds good but like nothing I, personally, have written, and anything from before that I want to edit.)

And, oh, October of 2007: when I was newly pregnant and did not really understand why I was sleeping all the damn time and eating in most of my conscious minutes and getting nothing done. I don't even remember seeing those emails, but I would like to discuss them now! I am an unreliable correspondent with a year-old child, but nothing like as bad as I was when I was pregnant.

That is pretty much the story of my life -- though I'm more likely to find things acceptable only if they're at the 'huh, this seems like it was ghost written' stage. If I reread things before I posted and/or emailed, it would be likely people would never hear from me again. If current said email includes any pertinent information, or general forms of communication, I would love to see it. It would also help to check if this is an intermittent or persistent problem, as it looks like the first email routed through your LJ ID.

Re: Previous correspondence: I really just wanted to make sure we weren't misfiring. I recall having a conversation in your LJ one time about how you actually had received and replied to my emails regarding that time that I was behind due to the death in the family and my life kind of blowing up; and that it was therefore acceptable to you that I was not on deadline. I would also love to discuss them! Especially as I also promised you fic in recompense for my tardiness.

Sorry for the tardiness of this reply. I had my very first academic conference this week, so things were a little hectic.

I uh forgot to reply to your last email, mostly because I was I was busy with work, essays, the Mormon cousins from American visiting, an auntie's funeral and jury duty. I will totally do it soon.

That is totally acceptable! I am sorry to hear that you are so busy. This is really just to check to make sure that I am actually receiving the emails that I should be.

I emailed you! It was a much-delayed reply to the one you sent me a while back, because I, too, am a lame-o who fails at email. I'd re-send, but I am lazy and it was actually pretty inconsequential.

How are you?

I did not receive this email! You are just lucky that GoodReads emails me occasionally to let me know that you are still alive.

I'm okay. Convocated at the end of May, starting grad school in September. Going to Chicago in August. Had my first academic conference this week, hence the tardiness of my reply. Working at the same facility this summer. Have a mentoring appointment with that author on Monday. Lost my ability to construct complete sentences.

What about you? What have you been up to? We should attempt to grab coffee or lunch at some point, just so I can confirm that you haven't been replaced by an exceptionally clever, insubstantial AI.

Heh, yes, my life has been lacking in internet time lately, to the extent that it seemed to make more sense to give up on maintaining an online presence rather than just being really bad at keeping up with everything. Things in rl are a bit slower lately, and I've wisely decided to use the extra online time to get completely addicted to American Idol rps. (Yeah, I have no idea, man. *hands*). But I really don't know how long the break will last.

Congratulations! So many congratulations! I feel awful to have missed it when it happened, but I'm really proud of you. I know it was tough at times.

How was the conference? Fun? Are you sticking around for grad school?

Coffee sounds good, though no rush if you're busy. Let me know what works for you. I promise not to try to recruit you into American Idol?

I am completely down with people decreasing their online involvement. To be entirely honest, sometimes I just turn my computer off for a few days and enjoy being disconnected.

Thank you! And seriously, do not feel at all bad. I don't even think I mentioned on my LJ that I convocated (twice!), and you are surprise!parenting.

Conference was informative, and a good experience. I am remaining in-town for grad school -- the synchrotron is right here, and I intend to do some work utilizing it. While it would have been nice to go elsewhere, this just seems to work out.

Yes, coffee! Definitely. I would not have suggested it if I intended to tell you I was actually too busy. We have a maintenance shut down next week, so I don't work on the weekend. Both my Saturday and Sunday (4/5) are open.
